Dot, lets hang out. I think we'd get along well. I have a gripping personality and you have a nice rack.

I went once, years ago... Best time ever, but then again, I was young and into that kind of shit then. My highlight was going to a private party hosted by Sharon Osbourne and then making out with some indie rock dudes naked in a hot tub.

I missed the window of opportunity on sxsw for maximum fun. I should have gone like 7 years ago.

I just spent about 10 minutes on their disorganized shit website, and I still have no idea who's playing this year.

yah i'm basically going because i now have a few friends who live there, and i wanted to go maybe 10 years ago but could never afford it/didn't have the connects to get into it, but now i can. so it's sorta like when i bought star wars toys in college-- you do it because you wanted to when you were little but couldn't. i won't have a badge or anything.

I actually hate Austin. I mean, I don't "hate" it, I just find it kind of a little bit like South Street meets Jersey Shore meets my sophomore year of college meets Texas. And you can't walk anywhere. Last time I was there I was at a friend's house, a mile from our hotel, piss drunk and without a cab in sight (in a gated community) and I decided that it was a good idea to walk to the hotel. I mean, it's a mile, right? It's a mile and a half between my old house on Broad and Moore and Walnut street; I've walked that piss drunk.... no big deal. I'm in a city for college students.... I should be safe, right?

I didn't walk. A cab was called and two hours later, a cab showed up. Stupid. Two hours to get a cab to take you a mile that is unsafe to walk? And they call themselves a city that caters to music and parties and fun? Stupid.

As long as you're staying RIGHT downtown, that should work. The city is not pedestrian/bike friendly unless you are right in the middle of it.

coffee is whack
movies are dope

i just picture a million and one band dudes/ dj's/ promoter douche bags chillin on this one south st. type strip, everyone vibing each other, talking shit behind each others backs, fighting to get served beers and food, everyone trying to get laid and "network"...seems like a pile of shit...playing half assed venues with mediocre sound systems and sucking dick to get into after parties which are oversold....and i think we're playing something like 6 shows in 3 days and only one of them is paying us....its all a shitstorm to make them look good and exploit the bands...and then i think of all the music gear chilling in this one city...like itd be so easy to steal gear from dumb bands that weekend...

i used to make fun of it, but i'm totally excited.
Only bummer is the house we're staying at is out in the burbs, like 10 min drive from all the action. Going back and forth everyday will be ishy.
but it's like a party house with a wooden hot tub and fire pit in the back yard.

dave when do you get there?
